International Journal of Surgical Cases: A New Beginning
Dear friends
It gives me immense pleasure to introduce to you “International journal of surgical cases,“ an open access online journal of surgical case reports.
This journal is an official publication of Academic Research group and will be a quarterly publication.
This is purely an academic initiative to provide a platform to all surgeons to come forward and share their knowledge. Surgeons from all specialties; General surgery, Gastrointestinal surgery, Endocrine Surgery, Minimal Access Surgery, Orthopedic surgery, Pediatric surgery, Urosurgery, Neuro surgery, Onco surgery, Cardiac surgery, Gynaecology surgery along with Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology faculties are invited to publish their cases. I am sure each surgeon from any part of the world does come across with minimum one unusual, rare or challenging case in his surgical career. Publishing these cases will create a knowledge pool from which many will be benefitted. Complications make us wiser but sharing it will help in prevention. Penning down our unusual cases would not only enhance our knowledge but also give us a boost in clinical practice with added academic satisfaction. In the era of Evidence based medicine there is a rise of articles with complex writing and statistics. International journal of surgical cases (IJSC) aims to provide a much simplified journal format and at the same time keep focus on the clinically relevant part of the article. The simplified format will also help the new writers to write and submit their cases and to get fast publication. IJSC will provide a fast peer review and publication system and the aim is to achieve a submission-decision duration of maximum 1 month. This will assist the authors to get rapid decisions and publication.
One of the major benefit of case reports are individualized treatment protocols that they provide, especially for the difficult and rare cases. The decision making process and the management protocols would be highlighted in the articles so the readers can replicate the treatment when they face similar case. Another unique point will be surgical technique Videos. IJSC will publish surgical videos online and this will help in peer review of the videos and also many readers can then reproduce the surgical technique easily. These features will definitely help surgeons improve their surgical skills and decision making. The ultimate motto behind this venture is to offer better patient care.
The current available journals are overburdened with original articles, review articles and case series, wherein case reports get neglected or there is ample delay in publication. “International Journal of surgical cases” warmly invites surgeons from all parts of the world to share their experience. Our research group comprises of reputed and acknowledged surgeons from various parts of the world who would sincerely help in editing and offer scientific publication.
I thank and seek blessings from the Almighty, my family and teachers so that this journal reaches its mission in enriching the science and craft of surgery. I look forward to your whole hearted contribution to make this online journal a big success.
